About Lindenhall Ragdolls

Lindenhall is a small Ragdoll cattery in a 1920s house on the north side of Asheville, North Carolina. We have bred Ragdolls since 2015 and are registered with both TICA and CFA. There are never more than three queens and two studs in the house, and all of them live in it with us. There are no outbuildings and no cages, and the back garden is fully fenced and netted so the cats can go out on the grass with us.

We work in two colors, seal and blue, and in the three traditional patterns: colorpoint, mitted and bicolor. That is a narrow brief and we keep to it on purpose. It lets us know every cat in a five-generation pedigree, and it keeps our attention on the things that matter more than novelty: heart health, substance and bone, a true blue eye, a rabbit-soft coat that does not mat, and the temperament the breed is named for.

Every breeding cat here is DNA tested for the Ragdoll HCM mutation (MYBPC3 R820W) and for PKD1, blood typed, and scanned by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist. DNA tells us about one known mutation. An echocardiogram tells us about the heart in front of us. We do both, and we repeat the echocardiogram through each cat's breeding years. The cattery is closed: we offer no outside stud service, no cat comes in without quarantine and testing, and the whole household is FeLV and FIV negative.

Kittens are born in our bedroom and move to the kitchen at four weeks, where the dishwasher, the vacuum, visitors and a patient old spaniel are part of ordinary life. They go home between twelve and fourteen weeks, already spayed or neutered, microchipped, twice vaccinated, litter trained and eating a diet we will name for you down to the flavor.

We place around a dozen kittens a year. We would rather know each family well than keep a long list.
